Like you, I hated seeing that damn flatline. When I first started making shorts, my videos would get a few hundred views and then.. nothing.
Ahh the dreaded "Shorts Jail."
As I got better, I evenetually found out that there isn't just one jail, there are three. Each one needing a specific key (strategy) to escape. And if you don’t know which jail you’re in, you’re just wasting uploads.
So that's step 1, figure out which jail you’re in. Then grab this free tool I made Shorts Lock-Pick to make damn sure you break out. Here are the jails.
Jail #1: The Swipe Jail (0 - 1k Views)
Lock: You are failing YouTube's 3-second test.
Key: Triple Hook
To stop the scroll, you need to engage the viewer on three levels immediately:
- Visual: What they see (High contrast, movement).
- Verbal: What they hear (A strong opening statement).
- Textual: What they read (A caption that amplifies curiosity).
BUT! If a hook is powerful enough, you don’t necessarily need all three
Jail #2: The Reaction Jail (1k - 10k Views)
Lock: The viewer watched, but they didn’t care.
Key: Backwards Reaction Strategy
People don’t share "information." They share how the video made them feel. Successful content triggers only a few specific reactions: LOL, WOW, WTF, AWW, OHH (epiphany) or YEAH! (Strong Agreement).
As Shaan Puri (My First Million Podcast) says, viral creators (advertisers in his example) start with the reaction in mind first, and then they work backwards.

Jail #3: The Format Jail (10k - 30k Views)
Lock: Your idea is good, but your presentation is 'meh'
Key: Format Hacking
As Tony Robbins says, "Success leaves clues."
Don’t reinvent the wheel. Look for outliers (videos that have 10x the views of that creator's usual average) but don't focus on the idea.. focus on the FORMAT
